How It Works

"Studio Approved" Secure Environment

Approved by most Hollywood Studios and Television Networks, dax|D3 has incorporated the highest level of security into its offering in the market. Sample Digital has been audited by the MPAA and several major film studio content security departments.

dax|D3's security design provides both protection from the outside world and total control over user access within the system. dax|D3 employs multiple layers of banking-level security features, including User Authentication and Authorization, secure servers and VPN technologies.

The dax|D3 System provides the following security features and benefits:
  • Users are authenticated on login and establish a security session with the application.
  • A Digital Audit Trail that provides an at-a-glance history of all user activity within the system.
  • Access Hierarchies that remains invisible to everyone except administrators.
  • All session data is stored on the Application Server with only the Session ID stored on the client.
  • Complete security integration between Web Server, Application Server, Database, and Stream Server.
  • Database access credentials are complied into application components, no scripts are ever used.
  • Application components use Mutual Authentication and leverage the J2EE security model for interoperation.
  • 128-bit encrypted Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Data Transport Services. Verifiable Security @ the Network, Operating System and Applications layers. – Verisign Certification.
  • Adobe Flash Media Rights Management (DRM) ensures that each file is encrypted with a wrapper and a key. After each download and/or view, encrypted files cannot be duplicated, replicated or output to physical media unless that user has the ability or right to do so.
  • Content Expiration that extends indefinitely or limits users to specific timeframes or numbers of downloads.
  • Dynamically Generated Watermark Insertion dynamically creates in real time an irremovable watermark unique to each authorized user that visibly identifies the video with the individual user's identity. This defeats the "analog security hole," as users cannot capture video from a monitor without the watermark. The watermark is integrated with and protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM); works for both streaming and downloaded video content, and was designed to ensure that it cannot be disabled, masked, or edited out of the picture.
The Set Top Box provides the following security features and benefits:
  • Multi level username/password authentication and authorization per STB.
  • Encrypted password.
  • Custom built Secure FTP to transfer files to the set-top box.
  • SSL (Secure Socket Layer Encryption (VPN)) is implemented for all SOAP communication between set-top box and server.
  • Digital Rights Management (DRM) for windows media assets (Windows Rights Manager 9.0).
  • Dynamically generated visible watermarking.
